Three Ways to Boost Your Wireless Surveillance Camera's Signal

Wireless surveillance cameras are loved by most people because of their wiring-free. In particular, it is widely used in small household monitoring systems. The selection of the installation point of the wireless surveillance camera is more important. If the selection of the point is not good, the signal transmission will be greatly affected, resulting in unstable monitoring images in the later stage.

Many people think that wireless surveillance cameras do not need wiring at all. In fact, this understanding is biased. Generally, in the home monitoring system, the power line is solved by the original socket or access to the power strip, so it has also caused a certain misleading to many people. Wireless cameras also need power and transmission lines, but the transmission lines do not use traditional wired transmission, but use wireless networks. But the power line still can not be omitted. In other words, the wireless camera only saves the transmission line, and the power line still needs to be laid.

Wireless surveillance camera installation site selection

When selecting the location of the wireless surveillance camera, try to choose an area with less obstructions to avoid signal interference. Wireless signals are transmitted in the air through electromagnetic waves. Obstacles between the camera and the router will greatly attenuate the signal transmission, such as load-bearing walls, partition walls, baffles, furniture, etc. The more obstacles that pass through, the weaker the signal. . But sometimes we have to install wireless surveillance cameras in places where the wireless signal is very weak due to the limitation of the monitoring area. At this time, we need to enhance the wireless signal to prevent the later monitoring picture from being affected.

Maybe many people have seen the so-called "Wall Through King" and "Single Through Three Walls" and other functions of router equipment on the Internet, but the effect is believed to be known to those who have used it. In fact, if a single router inevitably has poor coverage, we can enhance the network signal by expanding the device or other networking devices.

1. Use wireless extenders to expand and amplify wireless signals

A wireless extender, that is, a wireless signal amplifier, expands and amplifies the signal of the router. This solution is currently the mainstream solution for wireless expansion in small environments. Where the signal is weak, just plug an extender into the power socket near this location, no need to connect the network cable. Because it is a signal amplifier, the default is to amplify the original signal.

2. Use the wireless router WDS bridge to expand the signal

Turn on the wireless router WDS wireless bridging function to bridge the wireless router connected to the broadband at home. This solution uses the wireless bridging function of the router to connect multiple wireless routers wirelessly, and there is no need for a network cable connection between the routers. After wireless bridging, there is only one signal in the network, which plays an amplifying role. Of course, the advantage of this scheme over scheme 1 is that the secondary router has four LAN ports, which can be used to connect wired computers.

3. Use a network cable to connect two (multiple) routers

Use a network cable to connect multiple routers, the router connected to the broadband is the main router, and the others are the secondary routers. The primary and secondary routers are connected through their respective LAN ports. At this time, the secondary router is equivalent to a wireless switch. This solution requires that each router is connected by a network cable to form a stable extended network. The biggest advantage of the solution is that it has good stability. The wireless band capacity is the sum of all routers, and the number of terminals that can be accessed is double that of a single router. However, this scheme has an obvious limitation, that is, all routers must be connected through network cables, which is not scalable.

When the wireless surveillance camera is installed, it is necessary to do a wireless signal test in advance. If the signal is not good, change the corresponding transmission scheme in advance to ensure the stability of the video surveillance system in the later stage.
